“Fate is strange, and our destinies can be shaped by very small decisions.”― Emily Rodda, Deltora Quest
What is Deltora Quest?
“Deltora is a land of monsters and magic” – this is the tagline that accompanies the books, the first sentence found at the top of every blurb and this is so very true. Deltora Quest first hit the shelves in the year 2000, and since then 18 books have followed as part of the series, a manga, a book of how to draw the monsters, a book diving into the secrets of the world, and a short lived anime series. The books are now sold in over 30 countries with over 18 million copies sold world-wide.
Deltora Quest is, like I’ve said already, made up of 19 books broken down into 4 series; Deltora Quest, Deltora Shadowlands, Dragons of Deltora and lastly, a recent addition, Star of Deltora -eleven years after the release of the last book.

For me, this book series is easily one of my favourite comfort reads, one I loved while growing up and love to dip back into.
These are definitely books that I would recommend to kids under the age of 12 who love the likes of the Harry Potter books, or even to anyone who would enjoy an easy and fantastical read, full of riddles and twists to keep you guessing right on till the end. These books will forever hold a special place on my bookshelf.
